Purpose

At Graceville Lightning Swim Club, we’re all about fun, friendship, and friendly competition.

Our club offers a welcoming space where primary school-aged swimmers from all local schools can come together to race, challenge themselves, and cheer each other on in a supportive environment.

Each week in at our Friday Night Club Nights (Terms 4 and 1), swimmers of all abilities dive into short, exciting races in our heated pool that build confidence in and out of the water.

Dinner and snacks are available, making this a great way for families to unwind at the end of the week and connect with each other.

Club Nights

We meet Friday nights in Term 4 and 1 at Graceville State School pool.

5:30pm Free Swim

6:00pm Assisted Swim

The Assisted Swim will start for younger children (usually Prep or Year 1) who need a little help completing 12.5m. They swim in the shallow end with the assistance of Year 5/6 students. This race is not timed and club membership is not required.

6:05pm Races

Please nominate before this time! Nominations open from Wednesday.

Showcase 100m (varies between medley, relay or single stroke)
Free, Back, Breast and Fly: 15m, 25m, 50m

Freestyle is always run early to allow younger swimmers an early exit if desired.. This is a great way to introduce evening sports to Prep/Year 1 swimmers with earlier bedtimes!

Membership

Membership covers our full season (Term 4 and Term 1).

Junior Membership (Year 3 and under): $75
Senior Membership (Year 4 and over): $125

Single term pricing is available for Year 6 swimmers in Term 4, or for any new members joining in Term 1.

Children from outside Graceville State School are also welcome! We are conveniently located for families from Graceville, Chelmer, Sherwood, Corinda, Oxley, Tennyson and Indooroopilly.

Weather Policy

Club policy is to swim rain or shine. The exception to this is where severe inclement weather is imminent and might affect the safety of members.

We will monitor weather information. If a cancellation is required, we will communicate it via Swim Club Connect and email.

We aim to make the decision by 5pm.

Coaching

Looking for a Learn To Swim or a Swim Squad to help prepare for race night?

The Swim Academy runs lessons right here in Graceville Pool and supports our club nights with raffle prizes.
