Volunteer

Like most clubs, we rely on parent helpers to keep club nights running.  Starting in 2024-25, the volunteer roster will be visible in the Swim Club Connect app.

Please sign yourself up on the upcoming meets! Your children will love seeing you helping out and it is a great way to meet other members of our club.

Unclaimed slots will be assigned. We understand that parents of young swimmers will be less able to assist in some roles and we will roster accordingly

New volunteers will be teamed with someone experienced.

Each club night we ask for 1-2 volunteers for each lane of the pool, to time keep. This is a simple process of pressing Start and Finish in Swim Club Connect App. This is a perfect job for a first time volunteer.

5:00-5:45: 2 x Setup

  • Chop lettuce and tomatoes

  • Set up tables and BBQ

  • Put items on display

  • Put out sauces, bins

  • Set up marshalling area

6:00-7:30: 6-12 x Timekeepers

  • Be responsible for timing a lane of the pool

  • Use the Swim Club Connect app as a stopwatch. This is an easy  job for a first time volunteer!

5:45-7:00: 2 x BBQ

  • Cook/Serve burgers, sausages etc.

  • No money changes hands

5:45-7:30: 2 x Canteen Service

  • Sell BBQ items, snacks, drinks, raffle tickets

  • No cash, card payments only

7:15-8:00: 2 x Cleanup

  • Put away tables, chairs, BBQ

  • Wash up dishes

  • Put away food, sauces, etc.

  • Tidy stands, change rooms

The following roles currently have amazing standing volunteers. They would still appreciate people willing to share the roles or to step in when they are unavailable! Please consider volunteering as a deputy!

6:00-7:30: Race Marshall: Dave Frizzell

(Optional) Race Marshall Deputy

6:00-7:30: Race Starter: Ann Hoare

(Optional) Race Starter Deputy

You can email info@gracevillelightning.org.au if you wish to help out.
