Graceville Lightning Swim Club invites you to join on Fridays from 5.30pm .

Swimmers race weekly against swimmers of similar standard. The competition is friendly, the pool is warm and there is a BBQ, snacks and drinks for sale.

Membership

Our season runs over Term 4 and Term 1.

One fee covers the whole season, based on the swimmer's Grade in Term 4:

Junior Membership (Year 3 and under): $70
Senior Membership (Year 4 and over): $120

Single term pricing is currently available for Year 6 swimmers (Term 4 only.)

Children from outside Graceville State School are also welcome! We are conveniently located for families from Chelmer, Sherwood, Corinda, Oxley, Tennyson and Indooroopilly.

Assisted Swim
Showcase 100m
Freestyle: 15m, 25m, 50m
Backstroke: 15m, 25m, 50m
Relay: 4x25m Free or Medley
Breaststroke: 15m, 25m, 50m
Butterfly: 15m, 25m, 50m

The extended Free Swim gives families the chance to arrive at their own pace.

The Assisted Swim will start for younger children (usually Prep or Year 1) who need a little help completing 12.5m. They swim in the shallow end with the assistance of Year 5/6 students. This race is not timed and club membership is not required.

Swimmers looking for a challenge can nominate in the showcase 100m race, either a medley or a single stroke.

Nominations and Timekeeping

Parents use the Swim Club Connect App (SCC) each week to nominate their swimmers prior to the races. You will need to download (or update) the SCC to be ready for the new season.

The free and assisted swims do not require nomination or club membership.

Parent help is required to time keep using the app. Recorded times are used to seed the following week's heats and can be seen in app to track swimmers' improvement.

Weather Policy

Club policy is to swim rain or shine. The exception to this is where severe inclement weather is imminent and might affect the safety of members.

The executive committee will monitor weather information. If a cancellation is required, we will communicate it via:

Coaching

Looking for a Learn To Swim or a Swim Squad to help prepare for race night? The Swim Academy runs lessons right here in Graceville Pool and supports our club nights with raffle prizes.

Special Nights

Club Championships are held late in Term 1 -- compete for places in age-based events and perhaps even become Age Champion.

Presentation Night awards the winners from the Club Champs.

Reciprocal inter-club meets with Sherwood Sharks give us the chance to compete against some new swimmers.
